Kris & Ela Kasperowicz

Kris and Ela Kasperowicz are the leading authorities in International Style Ballroom dancing in ChicagoLand. Teaching both social and competitive dance, they have created the perfect atmosphere for fun and learning at Kasper Dance Studio.

Kris and Ela are originally from Poland and started dancing in 1974 in a modern jazz formation team called Miraz. In 1978, they formed a partnership and quickly transitioned into competing in Ballroom, both Standard and Latin dances. They traveled all over Europe as they represented Poland and in their amateur and professional competitive careers, they competed in more than 450 competitions.

Eventually, they started coaching a Standard Formation team which won several major titles at competitive events under their direction. Some of their titles include two 1st place titles at the Polish National Championships, 4th place at the World Championships, 3rd place at the European Championships, 1st place at the German Open and 1st place at the Czechoslovakian Open (Video).

They are also well known and respected for their contributions to ballroom dancing in Poland. They were responsible for organizing many international dance competitions including the prestigious European Formation Team Championships; they developed a dance program featured on Polish TV making dance accessible to the general public, and they created the foundation for dance curriculums for children in schools.

With so many accomplishments, Kris and Ela brought their expertise to Chicago in 1990 and opened Kasper Dance Studio in 1995. They have coached successful professional, pro/am and amateur competitors and taught thousands of people the joys of dancing. They are also proud to be guest teachers at the City of Chicago's Summer Dance Program since the programs inception. Additionally, they are the organizers of The Windy City Open DanceSport competition in Chicago.
